Ashland St. Phoenixville to Port Providence - Schuylkill River Trail.
Ashland Street (Phoenixville) to Port Providence Trailhead 1.8 miles
Parking (paid) is available at Ashland St. and at several other parking lots available in Phoenixville (parking lot map below) to connect you the Schuylkill River Trail (parking map below). When you cross over the bridge on Bridge St. going to Mont Clare, take a left at the Lock 60 sign. At the bottom of the ramp, make a sharp right hairpin turn to take you to the SRT along the canal. If the car traffic on the bridge is light, you can cross over the lanes where the "Schuylkill River Trail To Oaks" sign is and and down to the canal and trail. It is a nice 1.8 tree covered walk along the canal to the Port Providence Trailhead. The trail is crushed stone. There are sections only a foot or so above the water level of the canal the trail may be muddy if it has rained in the past couple of days. There is a large paved parking lot at Port Providence, no gate and it does have restrooms.

Mont Clare, originally called Quincyville, has one of the best maintained sections of the Schuylkill canal. The cool early morning air is a great way to start a summer's day.
