The Cromby Trailhead has paved parking, it is not gated and no facilities. As you exit the parking lot and cross over Township Line Rd. towards Phoenixville, the hill is a 100 foot change in elevation. This is a steep hill! It is downhill as you approach Filmore St. Dropping 90 feet to the Mowere Rd. Trailhead on High St. Then more of a gentle descent along French Creek. The trail continues under the Gay St. bridge. Turning right on a bridge over French Creek, then turn left over the bridge at the Phoenixville Foundry. Follow French Creek until you reach the railroad and turn right to where Ashland meets Bridge St. Keep watch for the Schuylkill River Trail signs as there are local trails in the city and it is easy to leave the trail without knowing it. The trail is busy in the evening and on weekends.

This is a nice 2 mile walk/bike into Phoenixville. You can take Bridge St. into downtown Phoenixville. Or turn left and cross over the bridge into Mont Clare and continue south on the trail along the canal to Port Providence. Or head north in Mont Clare to Lock 60 and the Black Rock Dam.
